Opening Ceremony on his 100 Year Birthday

S.P. Korolev

the Farther of Russian Space Development, was born 100 years ago, on January 12, 1907.

He took the leadership of the Russian space development achieving remarkable success such as the world's first satellite Sputnik-1 and the world's first manned space flight by Gagalin.


To celebrate his 100 year birthday, Korolev's Museum opened at his house in Moscow, and its opening ceremony was held on January 12, 2007.

Dr. Nobuyuki Tomita, Deputy Chairman of NPO InterCoS was invited to the ceremony, and Ms. Natalia Remizova attended on behalf of him.


"First there was a meeting and some important people made speeches. Mr. Chertok shared his experience of working with Korolev. One of the major points of his speech was that Korolev
sought happiness as all the people, but it was not a personal happiness, but team happiness as a result of successful joint work.

After that, speeches were made by an astronaut, who knew Korolev personally, a representative of Federal Space Agency, and representatives of a space companies.

All the guests could enter Korolev's house and see the interior and get familiar with the place where Korolev was working and where he lived."
